i feel bad bro!!! but your fish did not die,you killed them you should of known better....

I would leave a few dead guppies in there. They will break down to ammonia and help cycle the tank.

Using old filter is good. I cycle my tanks by filling with dirty water I gravel vac from old tanks. I run for a day, then 50% water change before adding fish.
