EVERY one of my puffers die :( i have had figure eight green spotted pea and all different types of them but all of them die i have them in brackish(if needed) tanks near perfect water param and hey still die no tankmates to kill them and no parasites or anything like that the only thing i can think of is stres but when i get them home i acclimate them and they seem all happy eating snails and flake and a good veriety of food and in about a week i turn on the lights to find it dead why ?:irked:

hard to say if everthing is fine with water param the only thing i can see is what they are eating the snails may have a sickness

Pea puffer is not brackish. My guess is you do not acclimate them properly or your tank is not cycled. Or, something is contaminating the tank. Are you spraying any chemicals around your tank or touching the water with dirty hands? EVen if you spray things in the same room it spreads around and can land in tanks.

Couple things...how are you testing your water? If it is with the strips it is not very accurate and I would suggest getting an API test kit from your LFS. After you have accurate water levels, do you have a hydrometer to test the salinity? Depending on the type of brackish fish you are keeping determines what level of salinity they should be in. The brackish range is 1.005-1.012. Last question, what type of salt are you using to make the tank brackish? It needs to be marine salt, not aquarium salt. I would suggest a brand such as Instant Ocean. Let us know and hopefully we can help.:D

maybe but what sickness can a snail get ? thanks

none really :(

There may be parasites that came with the water the snails were in, but it would not kill all your puffers all at once that quickly.

The only things I can think of is water was not "fine". There was something wrong with it, too much salt, wrong temp or high ammonia.

The only thing i can personally see being wrong is your test kit possibly being inaccurate?

Most people here will recommend the API liquid test kit as its more accurate compared to most other brands...

But overall, as most have said, the only problem i can see is something in your water cuasing problems?

Lastly, since i don't think any one has asked yet, what are you water change schedules like?
