I recently obtained two small senegals. Day one, they ate three ghost shrimp between the two of them. Day two, they ate another shrimp. Carnivores, right?
Day three, I feed the SAE with a bottom feeder pellet. Found out it was a shrimp and krill blend when my bichirs started to eat it and carry around the too-large-for-them pellet like a dog with a bone.
So, I got a horde of guppy fry from a friend (about twenty small fry and a few larger ones). I was thinking 'Oh! My bichirs will have fun chasing them around and having them as a good snack and get their exercise in!'
Nope. I may have lost one guppy and these dumbs are still eating the processed pellets three days later. My 75 is overrun in small specks of guppy.
What strange things do your bichirs choose over the food you intended for them to eat?
