Most macaws have the potential to be ear-splittingly loud, and most of them are naturally vocal. I had a mini macaw (Hahns macaw) when I was a kid and even though she was conure-sized, the volume she could produce was unbelievable.

In my opinion, parrots are one of the most intensive pets a person can own. For one thing, they live anywhere from 20-60+ years, depending on the species. Also, they require several hours of interaction daily, and are prone to behavioral problems (biting, screaming, plucking) if their emotional needs are not met. I'm a firm believer that, if you have a single doubt in your mind about getting a bird, you should listen to the doubt and not get one. There are unfortunately tens of thousands of birds out there that are currently looking for homes, because people wanted a cool-looking pet and had no idea of the care and time that's required.
I agree, that's why I asked.

About how much noise did she make? That's the one reason I'm not sure I want to ever get one, my aunt has one and it is (pardon the language) loud as hell. The thing just won't shut up with it's ear-piercing shrieks..

If noise is a concern for you then I would definitely not be getting one. I can hear mine when I am outside the house and across the street. If you get one you not only need to check if it is ok with the rest of your family but your neighbors as well because they will hear them. And I would agree they are one of the most intensive pets you can own. If you are seriously thinking about owning a parrot I highly recommend finding a rescue to volunteer at so you can see just how loud and intense they can be and if you are lucky you might even find one that you like!

I am thinking I might try one years and years from now, and only if I can find one that stays quiet, lol A local pet store has one that is quiet for the most part (probably because of all the people's attention..) and was wondering if some individuals stay quiet.

wyldfya usually at that age suns already have yellow on the wings, are you sure its a sun and not a jenday? just curious
No, they don't. When a Sun conure is only 9 weeks old, they always have predominately green wings.
