All the doradids!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love the species and I want a whole collection of them. So far the only one I've had bad experience with is the jaguar. Couldn't keep em alive. Love the spotted raphel and stripped too the honey combs are like small nano versions. My niger is the only fish my Jar and ZZ gets along with and i rehomed my grans and mega with a cousin til I get another tank but bigger tank.

Another MFK who wants to build up a connection of these awesome fish! But other than me you already have/had quite a few ;)
Got pics?

Raphaels are quite cute indeed. They do get to an appreciable size of about a foot TL. They are far less shy at that size but overall are still hiders. If you wanna see them, use no furniture... or at least not thicker than a pencil.

What's being called a jaguar? The woodcat Liosomadoras oncinus? It's not a doradid though. Neither are the cute little buttons on drugs (supposedly Tatia) honeycombs.

Got pics?(I know it's hard :D )

Sadly, this is the only picture I have of the raphael haha.

I will be on the lookout, and will try to get pictures, but I moved him into my new bigger tank a less than a week ago and I figure it might tank him a couple weeks to start coming out more. Honestly, I was starting to worry that he was dead because I saw no sign of him for a few days, and I couldn't figure out where he could be hiding, but I saw him swimming around last night (with the led blue night lights on), so clearly there is more space in my driftwood cave than I thought.

Awesome, those 3 definately belong to the coolest catfish there are! ;) pics?

Im so happy. I just managed to find and buy another Spot Raphael. Very hard to find here. I now have 2 of them.
Nice, they are hard to find here, too, but very rewarding if you manage to!
Thanks, very cool thread :)

I'm a raph hoarder. And all my pics are old. Time for a new set soon...

Two platydoras armatulus 8"+
Three agamyxis pectinifrons, 2", 3", and 5" (looks to be ancient!)
One orinocodoras eigenmanni, 9"~ish - the largest known specimen
Ten amblydoras nauticus, one with a whitish head.

And in other cats I have two jaguar cats, a zamora woodcat, a SB Sun cat, an asian stream catfish (akysidae sp.), an adonis, an L200...probably forgetting somebody somewhere. But my doras are my all-time favorite!
