Hello! I have a 125 gallon thats stocked with 2 oscars, a small tsn a Medium sized RTC 1 clown knife and a juvenille gar. I just set this tank up roughly (8) weeks ago! I added some of my old gravel and water to jump start the bb process. I even have a few live plants in there. My problem is its still not (clear) the way I think and know it should be. I have a great (filtration) system.

Noted: oscars are 4 inches
TSN is 5 inches
RTC is 9 inches
Gar is around 9 inches
Clown knife is around 5 inches
Filtration: (3) penguin power filters
(1) Eheim 2217 canister
(1) Cascade 1000

that tank is way too heavily stocked for the amount of biological filtration you have. Old water and gravel isn't enough. You need an established filter. As soon as you set up your new tank 8 weeks ago, what fish did you put in?

oscars are ammonia factories. He would have caused an ammonia spike almost immediately

what do your water tests indicate?

Will the filters help the amonia?

it's not the filters that take care of the ammonia, it is the bacteria living in your filter media, gravel, decoration, etc. Do you know about tank cycling? IF your tank is not cycled, you may soon lose all your fish!

Your fish are growing faster than the BB (benificial bacteria) can keep up with. Replace the penguins (you didn't mention what size) with a pair of Emporer 400's with supercartrages and add a pair of air driven hydro5's to the tank along with a dose of fresh bio-spira.
