All this Filtration and still cloudy! Im confused

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How often should I do the water changes? I do one once a week at about 20 percent. Is this ok? All of my fish are perky and eating well. Or should I buy a bacteria booster?

The E400 is a far superior unit. I have a number of each. The penguins are prone to bio-wheel stalling while the Emporers are spray bar driven and much more reliable. I'd still recomend changing them out but the Bio-spira will clear up your tank in a couple of days no mater what you do. Use two 90 gal tank doses and pour it directly into the water. Make sure the place you get it from has it in a refrigerator.

Buy a test kit and test your water parameters, your fish could be swimming/dying in the sesspool of ammonia and nitrites.

Test kit, yes that a good idea, but if the tank has been set up for 8 weeks I would say he has successfully cycled it with fish. If it wasn't cycled they would be dead by now :WHOA:

Various blooms of algae, bacteria and diatoms are pretty common in a newly setup tanks. Usually you can just keep up the water changes and ride them out and the tank clears up again.

I'm not familiar with the filters you are using and wether they need upgrading, but they should be handling the load fine while your fish a small.

A UV filter may be the best way to clear up the water quickly?

Cheers

Point is; without knowing the water params, most diagnosis can be incorrect and a waste of time or money.
