All You Green Terrors out there...

Wow all of these are great looking! I'm convinced this is what I'll do. If I can't find a well enough bonded pair that can be happy in a 75, then I'll just do one. But hopefully I can get the pair at my LFS in time. Love these pics!

Wiggle: buy a small group for your 75. At small size I find it very hard to sex these guys, so buying a group will increase your chance at getting a pair.

Also, starting the fish together small is usually better. It can be hit or miss introducing cichlids when they're more mature.

Finally, I have limited experience with these guys, but I am finding that their "pair bond" is not nearly as strong as the Convicts or JD's I've kept. In my 6 foot tank my male seems more interested in spawning with the two females I keep than guarding fry. At least so far.

This doesn't mean that a pair wouldn't work in 75, I think it would, but if there are no other targets you might see more squabbling between the parents than you would expect (I'm guessing). But also keep in mind a 4 foot tank isn't really large enough to keep a lot of target fish with your pair - so what I am saying in the most drawn out way possible is be sure to decorate your tank with lots of caves and areas of refuge so that either fish can get away from the other if necessary.
