Alligator Gar - Growth Rate?

One of our lfs has 2 that grew 14 inches in their fist year. two and ahalf years old now and they are about 30 inches long. Was kept in a 10x3x3.

Friend's gar died recently. It was 3 feet long and was kept in a 8x3x3. It was 6 years old, but it had reached the 3 feet length awhile ago though. Maybe tank size held it back?

mine is 10" long. i have it for almost a year. it grew slower now. i heard a gar can grow to 2,5 meter long, its about 100" long.

Just like raising a child or a pup, I dont think you notice them grow.. the tank just starts loking smaller.. and if you have more than one you start noticing the difference in size.

mine is now 20 inch and fat!!
he even eats mice now....

I think there was a thread in this forum that show a gar that grow from 3'' to 3.5 feet in 1 and half years !
Arapaima can grow faster than that and eat a lot !
