Almost finished with my 15'x12, x3.5' deep. Anyone ever keep Alligator Gars outside? I was scrolling through the text and didn't see anything. It is located in Tropical climate, and the filtration will be pretty basic. I planned on a redtail cat, 2 alligator gars, and possibly some common plecs. I dunno if they would get eaten though. I would assume most fish leave them alone.

15 X 12... Don't see why not.

Oh sorry for the late response.... I am not sure to be honest I would say around 72ish. I don't think temp will be much of a problem. After a little more research I heard they jump a lot when they are young... Does that seem right?. Like maybe I should keep the water lvl down a bit while they are young?

Hello,

I am working on a national geographic documentary and i am looking for some one who possibly has a pond/aquarium with alligator gar where we could come and film alligator gar up close under water. If you or anyone you know has this please e-mail me at buoy59@yahoo.com Thanks!

go for the gator gars!

Oh! u cld always put a net over the pond to keep him from gettin out its wht turkey keepers do so they dont fly away!

There are some gars up here in USDA zone 6. I doubt yours would have any temperature problems. That being, I presume they'd be acceptable in your setup.

Cover the pond w/neeting while it's young...
