Hey all. I have an alligator gar and I am looking to build a pond in my yard to house it. I live in Illinois so harsh winters are pretty common but do you think there is any way I may keep it in the pond over winter without it dying? If not I will build an indoor pond for the time being. Anyone know what temperatures these gar can survive? Etc... Thanks all

I started a thread a while ago that had the exact info about temp you are looking for.
It indicated that gars can tolerate temp of 34 degrees farenheit or 1 degree celsius as well as lots of other interesting biological info and questions that are answered.

Sorry my network connection dropped out when I was posting the original message so I posted another thinking the first had failed.
