Alligator Snapping turtle

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've seen those pics before so I think it's been on there for a while. There are a few members on here who have them. They are a big responsiblity and not for the novice. Someday when I have the time and space, I'm going to have one.

Wow! I don't get how you would hold them and stuff. They wouldn't be to interesting unless you try to piss them off. Then, it will go spazzy. If people do have them, where would you keep yours?

poor beast...too big for about any home..Will end up being maltreated..

Seth, if any one can give an ally a knowledgeable keeping, that would be you (among a couiple of others )

Thanks Miguel but the largest turtle species I've delt with are Common Snappers. Alligator snappers still need a lot of room but they aren't quite as active as the Common variety.

It's a shame that these great beasts are easily accessible to the novice keeper. I was at a reptile show yesterday and I saw over a hundred baby Alligator Snappers for sale along with many other herps that really shouldn't be offered for sale like American Alligators, King Cobras, Rattlesnakes, etc...
