snapper+plus huge fish+a few years=snapper.

You might be able to keep a snapper and some species of large fish together, Plecos can mix with them. And some people i have heard about keep thier turtles with Gar. so it can be done, just tricky.

You can probably keep a matamata with any fish that it cant fit in its mouth. They use the 'vaccuum' technique and have no beak, so any big fish should be fine. Although I might worry about accidents because of its size and claws.

My big Mata swallowed a considerably sized wolf fish in the blink of a nano second...

she lives with 3 big plecos, though...

Never heard of an alligator tortoise. If you're referring to alligator snapping turtles, don't ever keep them with any fish you intend on keeping. They're consummate predators that have no problem attacking, killing and eating prey larger than they can handle in one bite. Also, these turtles reach well over 150 pounds so a HUGE enclosure is required along with a ton of maintenance since these turtles produce alot of waste.

Here's one not even half grown at a mere 45 pounds.
Man the one in the picture is insane.

Yeah I mean BIG fish for matas. Ive seen what they can eat. Stuff like large cats, plecos, big oscars maybe.

Bruce you think that ones big? hahahaha You should see the one at the Luray Zoo. Ive seen dozens of large snappers, and that was easily the biggest by a long shot.

When i lived in east texas. they pulled one out of a drainage ditch that weighed 220 pounds.

Very nice! Where in texas? I was in some Houston suburbs. I saw a big dead snapper on the road that must have been at least 80-120. Shame such a magnificent beast had to die such a lame and easily preventable death.
