Has anyone tried using the Almond Tree Leaves in the aro tank? I would like to hear opinions or no's if you haven't.

I tried them and they are unbelievable. The fish calm down, ph lowers, water is amber hued by tanin if not overfiltered out, it's an aphrodesiac. Oh yeah, it naturally creates the ideal biotype for aros. The leaves also resist parasites and disease.

So, input here, good, bad, lots, none, if not I suggest you try. :feedback:

FYI It does not affect the clarity of the water, just the color hue.

LOLOL

I put a few leaves in a batch of brownies, they kinda taste like dirt
and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Ya know. now that I think of it, I don't have any visible parasites either...
Bacterial or Fungal, cool!

The weird thing is, when I take a bath...
I have this really bad urge to jump...

you know what I think of them...I hooked you up with your first batch of "Indian Almond" leaves.
Same stuff they make "Catappa extract" with...:cool-1:

where can you find the almond leaves?

I went to ebay and typed in "almond tree leaves" and it pops up with many places. I found a direct seller in Singapore who hand picks them. Don't know how spamming laws work, so if someone wants more info, pm me.

actually the one I reccommend is limijj@pacific.net.ssg she starts off at 10 leaves and the supply is endless, the family hand picks them and washes them, so I know they're safe. Quality control is a big issue. I did a lot of research before finding a seller I liked. You don't have to use ebay, you can just email her, tell her I referred you, then she'll give you a mfk deal. I spread the Monster Movement and it works, group discount.

prices like 100 leaves cost $14.00 plus 11 for airmail just ask for the price breakdown, she'll email it.

I think what she might be referring to is what's locally known as Ketapang leaf. It's the dry leaf that u want. It's rich in tannin & makes the water soft. In certain rivers in Indonesia the water is "tea" in color from all the leaves that fall off the trees. It has been said these leaves replicate the natural envior. that the fishes live in. In some instances, it does calm the aros down. I am not sure there is any medicinal value in preventing disease thought. Lots of aro keepers in this region use it. The leaf can be put into a netting bag then left in the aquarium or filter. Some brew it, just using the water. It can be found here in abundance or u can buy them in tea bag sachets. Companies like Otto sell them in bottles naming it black water etc.

Attached pic..on the left is the leaf & on the right is the dried form. Pic taken from bettysplendens.
