Just though i would share this story.. Today i got home from work and like always the first thing i do is go look at my tank.. In my opinion there's 2 things that stick out right away, the stingray and the 15" fire eel.. I didn't see the fire eel :eek:.. i started to panic so bad.(about 3 weeks ago my aro jumped out the back of the tank, so i was freaking). I started looking everywhere for the eel, behind the stand, on the sides, under tables, even under the beds in the house becuz there's a cat in the house. I found NOTHING.. i have a fluval 305 and a emperor 400 on the tank. I even took apart the fuval haha. After that i look at the emperor 400 (hang on the back filter) it was all in tacked. The top was on even the bio wheels were on. I took the top on and saw the bright Orange on the tail!!! if no1 knows this filter. 1 i have no idea how he got in, well he must have swam up the return waterfall part. But the bio wheels werent knocked off?? or the top?? very wierd. anywayz i grabbed him reeal quick and he swam away!! :):):):).. I have a friend that has a big tank with overflows and his eel is always in there but i never herd of this.. Any1 have anything similar happen??

yep my eel has found his way into my HOB filter more than once, lol the first time i was pretty scared i thought he was gone but now i just keep the water level down lik an inch and a half or 2 inches and he hasn't gotten back in it

lower the water.. I have a leopard eel who lost a good chunk of his tail by doing this. and You may want to add more hide spots. oddly enough my fire eels are my only spineys who haven't preformed this stunt.

i woke up yesterday morning only to find my eel in the kitchen picked it up and put it in my tank and it is still alive i think they can walk on land for like 2 km or somthen scared the hell out of me :P

i have had eels do this in the past.I place rocks along where the water falls back into the tank so they can't swim up and in any more.

Been there sir. Lost my tire track eel in my hob filter for 3 weeks.
