The black blotch on the dorsal is not always indicative as to sex.....I will look to see if I can find pics of his old girlfriend that I sold to Miles....

This was the female....She is gone now, and he lost his protection...they used to guard their nest at all costs and ruled any tank they were in...He took this blow from the RD that he used to chase ALL the time when he had his female. He was alone for less than a week before he was injured...

Nice save!and yeah Fh and several of the amphilophus will yield fish with traits of the opposite sex.Easy to be fooled sometimes

here is one for you. my male got stuck in his breeding log for 2 days and didnt noticed it till this happened. this I think is bad. this is just after it happened and the next is 3 weeks later.
