Congrtaulations on doing the right thing.Always research a fish b4 you jump into buying it.

most likely a sterlet they only get about 36" so not too huge but they are alot of work to keep. I have kept them in indoor ponds and they dont have to keep swimming. They can just lay on the bottom and chill. However they do need lots of 02 and cool water.

Also read they need to constantly swim like sharks to get proper amounts of air.

hey, my friend has a huge saltwater tank in Japan, but the cat or dog sharks(in Japanese) are always lying on the ground. He has 2 species and one is always on the bottom and the other is going crazy.
Does that species not need to swim alot?

Sterlets grow longer then 3', it's more like 4'.

Jea; not all sharks need to keep swimming in order to breath. They cannot pump water over their gills without moving. Many sharks can pump their gills or breath with the aid of a slit behind the eyes known as a spiracle.

Oh thanks.
If possible, can you give me a brief example of fish that do/don't swim to breathe.
