Alone in the hobby :(

Since when does the non-income-earning kids have any say in what Mom puts in the house? I'd have the kids show me the mortgage payments in their names before I give them any vote in the decor of the house. And, if my wife wanted a tank in the living room, my go-to response for everything is 'Yes, Dear.'

Because you like fish. If she didn't it would be quite the opposite

The best thing about this hobby is there is a sp. for everyone. maybe bring them to the LFS with you and see what attracts them. I have 4 boys with number 5 on the way and they all have there favorite type and they all love watching the fry when they breed. My wife likes them but still has to complain about the tanks, of course she's not happy unless she complaining about something.

I live by the saying "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" ;) Go for it! What are they going to do once it's there? NOTHING!

LOL that's exactly my approach. When I came back to the hobby, 3 years ago, I had a 75 fully set up by the time the wife got home from work. Then same thing with the double decker 29gal tanks in our bedroom. She just rolls her eyes, shakes her head, produces a loving smile, and gives a little sigh and a . I'm up to 5 tanks now:woot:

its your money, use it when you need it ! lol in all seriousness, if you can buy another... Buy another. Get your own room... Im sure the man hasda man cave.. you can have a fish cave

My wife hates the tanks, but she especially hates when I change stuff up, fish, new tank, etc...Trying to convince her to let me get a bigger tank at the moment, but she gets mad and says..."It's a waste of money, you're only going to want a bigger one later" Good luck with the husband. I told my wife if she doesn't want to waste money on tanks that fine, but I really don't want to waste money going to the beach with her family this summer either...

At least she knew 1 thing for sure that you spend money on her and fishes not for some third hidden person :D

Haha.....plus, she also knew, going into it(marriage), I had a fish "fetish" in the past

Lol @stupid fish,so did you wind up getting her the snail?

Hell no. I don't buy stock from Walmart anymore. I used to buy mixed African cichlids for 1.99 each and quarantine them in a separate tank.. not bad for some colorful hybid mutts. but not worth the risk with a snail lol. I usually don't have problems with petstore fish, even petsmart, my local one isnt too bad. But walmart has some diseased cess pool going on. Half of the fish are dead, have fungus, fin rot, poor coloration, or ich. But that's another thread entirely.

Back on topic- when I was a single man and had 2 burned out male room mates, they celebrated my fish keeping. They loved the tanks in the living room. But we didn't have cable, and most of their income went to certain "luxuries" and they spent most of their free time on the couch staring at fish.
