10" Male Jack Dempsey, 6" Female Jack Dempsey, 11" Tiger Oscar, 7" Severum, 7" Bluegill, 6" Uaru, 8" Bullhead Catfish, 7" African Featherfin Catfish, 4" Geo, 5" Dovii, 5" Peacock Bass, 6" Striped Raphael Catfish, 4 " Green Sunfish, 3" Salvini (female), 3" Convict (Male), 7" Bichir, 8" Hi-fin Plecp, 5" Hi-Fin Pleco, 1" Jewel, 1" Mbuna, goldfish (feeders)

All these fish are in a 55g...since they were babies. Now hold on...inexcusable, I know, but they just don't work in other tanks. I do 50% water changes daily and run filtration for over 200g, and the water is good, it really is no bs. I have other tanks, but these fish only do well in other tanks, for instance my big 10" jack got its but kicked by either my 8" texas or 7" nicaragua when I put him in my 125 with them. Obviosly the dovii/pbass and bullhead will have to move eventually...but for now it works.

See the video, its in the video lounge.

i think it works because there is so many fish that its hard for anyone fish to be aggressive to one other specific fish. but im sure they are stressed a bit at some level from overcrowding.

your not understanding...I have other tanks...I have bigger tanks. I don't want to keep these guys like this, but every other tank I put them in they dont work out, they either get messed up or do the messing up, I have no desire to do 50% vacume water changes daily (its in my bedroom so I half to do this one by bucket and siphon unlike tanks in my basement that I just hook the python up to). The Jewel and the other african were put in there to be food...awhile ago, they dont even get looked at. As for being happy...how you could say they are otherwise I dont understand, nobody knows what makes a fish happy or if they can even really be "happy", healthy...they are. Other than the Male Jack, do you see an injured or unhealthy looking fish?

Didn't see the video, and you're right, I don't know what a fish is thinking, but common sense tells me they would want more room and to not be bumping into each other and figuring out where the water is to swim instead of hitting another fish every time they turn around. You have other tanks larger? Put them all in a 200 or larger and see what happens.

Watch the video then, its in the video lounge, my fish are healthy and look “happy”. Look, I know its bad, and that’s why I posted it. These fish I know like it in this tank better than the ones I moved them from (Jack is the only original and is 5yrs old) there behavior shows it.

I have even had the Jack breed in this tank.

I don’t have a 200G, but I do have 2 125’s, a 90g, 2 75’s, 3 40 breeders and a 20L. All occupied and the source of the fish in the 55. I do however want to move them to a bigger tank, not a 200g, but a 180g, I am just really hoping the reason this tank works doesn’t go away when I do that. This 55 has more than all of the big tanks occupants combined.

As for swimming, the majority of the time they are on one side of the tank while the other side is bare, they like to be around each other. I know cichlids are not schooling fish but something is going on here. And I watch them A LOT, this is my favorite tank to watch that I have, and fish, at least my fish, rarely ever run into each other (except catfish they are kinda dumb but fun), they may get close but they can sense the difference between really close and touching.Watch the video then, its in the video lounge, my fish are healthy and look “happy”.
