Alot of fish in a 55

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
your not understanding...I have other tanks...I have bigger tanks. I don't want to keep these guys like this, but every other tank I put them in they dont work out, they either get messed up or do the messing up, I have no desire to do 50% vacume water changes daily (its in my bedroom so I half to do this one by bucket and siphon unlike tanks in my basement that I just hook the python up to). The Jewel and the other african were put in there to be food...awhile ago, they dont even get looked at. As for being happy...how you could say they are otherwise I dont understand, nobody knows what makes a fish happy or if they can even really be "happy", healthy...they are. Other than the Male Jack, do you see an injured or unhealthy looking fish?

No they actually all appear heathy. Cramped, yes but they actually look quite good. And at least you are aware of the situation and not coming on here saying "look at my tank and how there are no issues with it". I think it's just going to be trial and error with different combos in some of your different tanks.

I couldn't imagine doing 50% water changes daily, but at least you are doing them to keep the bio in check. I would start trying different fish in different tanks though, just for your own sanity lol

Good luck!

If you're not able to home them properly, and they will "only work" in a tank that is too small for a single one of most of those fish, let alone all of them, then the responsible thing to do would be to rehome them or trade them in to your LFS. Since you only have 8 posts and can't even spell the name of your location properly then I'm going to pretend that this is just an attempt at trolling with a video you found on youtube and it's not really your tank.

1: Rehome them is a possibility, will not give them to any fishstore because they will most likely wind up worse or dead. But i want them together and I am getting a bigger tank.
2: the location name was intentional
3: see if the uploader on youtube matches mine...

I was just talking to a guy who was telling me how happy his 11" oscar was in a ten gallon tank. just because they are eating and swimming doesnt make them happy. as long as you keep the filtration and water changes, and they keep eating, they should be healthy. Still doesnt mean they are happy. I know you have other tanks with other fish that the other combos dont work. That means get a whole new big tank that can simply move over this working combo. I dont care what the video shows or how healthy and happy they appear. its not good for the fish and there will be long term problems no matter how much you keep on top of water quality.

your right, and i willPeople I know this video is disheartening to watch. All I can say is that I keep them healthy and I will indeed get them a bigger tank, I have been planning on getting them a 180 anyway, may still not be big enough for them all still, but its better. I am legitimately concerned that the relationship these fish have with each other will change in that move, but I will be doing it anyway…I promise. I posted this knowing its was going to understandably get negative attention. I was just laying in bed last night watching them for hours and wanted other people to see this weird group of fish that should not work together live in peace, I think they are beautiful at least. I am uploading another video as I write this, it is up on the tank close up, so you can really see the beauty of these guys if you want to.

I'm not trying to put your fish keeping skills down, but you can see the constant aggression in your video. Many of the fish have fins that are torn to shreds. As for convicts they will breed anytime and pretty much under any condition.

which fish? I already said the jack got put back into this tank when he got beat up in another tank and you can see about weeks worth of heal on those fins. The AFF has scrapes but if you've ever had one you would know they squeeze through tiny spaces they have no business in. Only other one I see is maybe the con, but he's obviously breeding with the salvini.'

Agression: The only aggression you saw is between the younger fish and is nothing more then a show, no attacking.

A fishkeeper knows his fish. If your fish personalities work with each other, dont worry about the move into a bigger tank. Create lots of hides and add the fish in order of who will need the most time adjusting to the new home. Ive done all sorts of fish combinations most people say im stupid for trying (and with success). The size of the home for such large fish is all im concerned about. If your fish work as a group, power to the group
