Alternative sources of filter material than pet stores?

Finally got all my scrubbies. It required that I go to 11 Dollar stores, but was still less driving than making my way to the nearest DoItBest. I ended up with 29 6-packs (174) to fill about 1 cubic foot (12x12x11"). They must be a lot smaller than the ones from DoItBest since I didn't jam them in.

does anyone know where i can get egg crate every thing i have found at walmart and all the craft stores around me only have the thin stuff that won't even hold its self up on its own weight

Home Depot should have it in stock, look in the lighting department.

I've buying polyester batting from JoAnne Fabric. There are many types of poly batting and many are too soft or too loose for filtering use. I always buy the 4 oz cut by yard which is nearly always on sale for half the list price.

it is great and very cheap. I buy it in huge rolls once every 3 months when it goes on 50% off sale.
