alot of great info here f1vet is correct only you can determine water change schedule it will be based on stock and feeding amounts (bio load), you can also look into closed loop system 1 filter, 1pump 3000gph 10x turnover per hour on a 300gallon check kendragon, hulon's setup. Kendragon does not even do gravel cleanings due to high turnover rate, the idea is to backwash filter before it gets a chance to convert completely(No3).
