Altum angel tankmates

Hey everyone, im after some opinions on good tankmates for Altum Angels. Picked up a 120g aquarium last week after being out of the hobby for a while and I'm planning to get some Angels once the tank is fully cycled. Tank has no fish in it at the moment so I'm open to any suggestions people may have.

I kept mine with a school of rummy nose, great for schooling.
And Sterbei cories which kept the bottom active and clean.
Chose these as I didn't want anything to compete with angels in terms of attention and the focus remained on the angels.

I like the rummy nose but was worried the angels might eat them when they get bigger. I want to get some cories also but have read mixed opinions about keeping them in tanks with sand.
Would Congo tetras work? Also thinking about getting a school of bosemani rainbows if they're compatible. Any opinions and advice is much appreciated

I would discourage a school of bosemani rainbows with the P.altum.
Altums take some effort and should be the featured fish. Bosemani get too large, too boisterous, and too greedy at feeding, not truly compatible with a healthy altum tank.
Small tetras would be much better, and naturally compatible.

I agree with this. Both congos and Bosemani would cause issues at feeding. Amazonian tetras like rummy nose or cardinals stay wary enough to hang around at feeding but not take over.
Cories and sand are a good match as it is soft on their barbels.

Since Altum angels prefer a pH between 4 and 6, and bosemanii rainbows a pH of over 7, choosing similar black water river species from the Rio Negro or Orinoco would prudent for health reasons.

Thanks for the advice guys. At this stage looks like I'll be getting some Amazonian tetras and some corys for tank mates. Would it be possible to add a couple of dwarf cichlids and maybe a pleco aswell?
