Howdy,

One of my altums is developing some weird growth. It doesn't come out too good on the pictures, but there is a growth on the left pectoral fin and at the vent.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
HarleyK

is it a growth or does it look more like a wound of some sort thats kinda the way it looks in the picture

Howdy,

No, it's not a wound. Rather tumor-like at the fin and swollen at the vent (I doubt that it's cancer).

Could it be a food occlusion, Harvey?

external parasite always and most of the time the water dirty, try use PP for 6 hrs with light dosage

looks alot like what i have on my gold fish.. is it protruding up from the skin/scales or is it flat.. salt and heat for now.. thats one beautiful angel.. maybe lupin would be able to tell you more.

Hi,
I just signed up to monsterfishkeepers after reading this thread. If the following description is what your fish has I can tell you how to cure it...........
just behind the pectorial fin starting right at the base, a growth began as small greyish to pinkish in colour, looking like what i imagine a tumor would look like, almost brain like in appearance! and growing slowly, if that makes sense?
two of my group of angels had this growth a few months back, I seperated them from the group and treated them with a course of 'esha 2000' within a week the growth seemed to shrink another week later and were 90% gone.
on one fish it came back a few months later and required a second ,and never again appeared on the second fish.
hope this helps,
regards
