Altum help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi Lupin,
I just checked out the active ingredients in 'esha 2000' and they are as follows
ethacridine lactate (Rivanol) 6.3mg
proflavin 1mg
copper++ 3.2mg
methyl orange 0.26mg
bottle size is 20ml

this is what is in the medication here in Europe, I suppose it would be no harm to double check the contents in the states as I have heard of different doses / mixes in some medications depending on the countries laws.

Howdy,

Thanks for the suggestion. Great to have you join the forum

Up front: I am getting fish in this weekend, thus, my quarantine tank will be occupied for several weeks. Does anyone know if esha 2000 is suitable to use with scale-less fish? I've got a 15'' goldline knifefish that's in the same tank as the altums, and I'd be inclined to treat thye whole tank. How about catfish?

Thanks,
HarleyK

head to walmart and buy a new 10 gallon tank for 10$.... if not needed never treat a scaleless fish...

Hi,
i am not too sure about treating a tank with knifefish, but I know a guy with knife fish who uses esha 2000, wait and i will contact him to double check!, and get back to you once I have spoken to him, he.s pretty good on medications.

I just read the post from 'Nic' and while I would accept the reliability my info on esha 2000 being safe, I would agree with him (her) on not treating any fish not needing treatments.

LOL. I just got another couple of 10 gal tanks to have additional quarantine capacity for the new arrivals. My wife will kill me if she finds more :D.
But point well taken, I'll simply have the altum wait until the other fish are thru quarantine and then isolate and treat it. This growth has been going on for a while, a couple of weeks won't make a difference.

Cool, thanks for chiming in.
I can't seem to find it here in the US. My LFS told me that they stopped carrying EsHa2000 twenty years ago :WHOA: I'll see what I can do.
