They're definitely not altums. CichlidPharmer guessed it right in the first place.:)

0% guessing on my part. I've raised Altums, Scalares, Dumerillis/Leopoldis, Peruvian scalares/altums, Guiana red-spotted scalares and have eyeballed claimed fish from cross between Altum and scalare and it's easy to see how an Altum distinguishes itself from the others.

Just look at the pictures posted by hilbilly! The Angels in those pictures are Altums and very different from the fishes in question.

The pictures have to be really bad and blurry or photoshopped to make a non-altum mistaken as an altum.;)

If you consider all the possiblities of how the species evolved, I might be part Altum, too! But that's neither here no there as an answer to the question of whether a certain Angel is an Altum or not. We might as well call any Angel as a certain % Altum and label them all as Altums:grinno:

Got any pics of the Guiana red-spotted scalares?? never ever seen em before..they sound pretty cool :)

Check with SuperLaz. Most of my last batch went to him last year. My pics of them were posted in TAF(The Angelfish Forum) II a couple of years ago.

Check the Angelfish Study Group website, too. They have pictures of most of the different Wild Angels and tips on how to diferrentiate between them.

k

Altho I think I will keep these guys.. their fins are becoming quite red :) and they look as if they could grow up to be awsome :-D

So, we have officially decided by various methods that these are indeed not Altums? As we seem to be agreed, and it appears the longer this stays open the more bickering there will be, think this would be a good time to bring it to a close.
