Remove those species and add about 100 neons would make that tank really mesmerizing
I agree completely with the effect, but I have read that neons are angel's prey in the wild. If not, I will say that my P. Scalare happily eat half grown guppies, but I have never let them have neons, as I have never had neons live in my tanks. Another, slightly bigger tetra, like glowlight, or even Praecox rainbows, (I have some now, my favorite current fish, so I am a little biased) would be perfect.

Just give the neons plenty of hiding places and the altums well fed, should help reduce predation. The bonus is you'll get a shoaling effect with the neons, so it may be worth it to have to replace them every so often :D Petsmart, by me, regularly have neons on sale for $1

How about rummy nose tetras?
