always be prepared while moving stingrays!

The joys of moving rays.... And that overwhelming feeling that leaves you trembling after freeing a stuck ray..... LOL

I don't even bother with any nets anymore. I use swiss cheesed totes (Totes with a whole bunch of holes drilled in the bottom). Seems to work much better for everyone involved.... In a pond anyways. As far as the whole tank thing, I won't know till later this week when I fish out all my Marbles out of thier 300. I'm sure it will be a great time, but won't be near as fun as moving a possibly prego 20"er.

man, tell me about it. I was shaking when it was all said and done. I was sore the next day..ha ha

What is a tote? Like a rubbermaid container? You say with holes, so the ray will be in it with no water?
 
Yeah... Tote=rubbermaid container.

I use a tote that's not much bigger then the rays. There are holes to drain the water as you bring it out but if you're quick the ray stays covered. I go immediately into bigger totes that are filled with water. The swiss cheesed totes are just to go from pond to waterfilled totes. Not saying it works better then some other ideas mentioned, just seems to work better then anything I have yet to try. Mite be possible that the draining water kinda pins the ray to the bottom of the tote, cause they don't really freak till they are in the water filled tote.
 
Given the choice I would nvr wanna move my rays. If seriously gotta do it, I make sure I hav another pax besides/around me esp if it's a big one.
