...Am I a heartless fish keeper?

A spare 29 would be great for a krib "colony". Some simple plants could give the older young a place to hide during spawning time.

Probably whats going to happen...it's 2 hour drive away though at my parents...just gotta get there...I checked on them this morning and they are "dulling" out and not bright "KILLZONE" red, seems to have helped mellow them out. The fry are still fine and hopefully will become chow soon.

Is there any sort of "RULE OF THUMB" for fry removal? Or am I going to be accused of running some sort of "PUPPY/FISH MILL"???

take them out of the breeding tank... put them into another tank lol i suggest using a net too :D

Cute thread. Just tell the missus you are raising "free" food so you don't have to spend all that money on feeders for your big fish. Plus you are raising your own so you aren't going to be threatened with illness from store bought feeders. :D

p.s. my pair of kribs beat the bejesus out of their tankmates and would eat their own fry after raising them for four weeks ! They were in a 55 gallon tank.

I'de have done the same thing. seperate teh fry and then set-up a different tank for the pair. by pulling the fry once they get use to this practice the pair will likely produce more often then if you leave the fry in their care. If feeders are your plan this may work in your favor. imho what your doing isn't even close to puppy-mill type care. Now leaving the fish in the tank indeffinately so they can inbreed with their siblings ect is... after a few generations you'll see mutations from all the inbreeding. That is akin to puppy mills..

HOLY MUTATED KRIB OFFSPRING, BATMAN!

rofl... not to mention a much higher mortality rate of the fry and potential for infertile fish.

not that I ever would, but would feeding my fish "mutated" babies be bad for them?
