One thing my body does really easily is converting mass from fat into muscle. So even if you can't drop the actual pounds, it would be a tad healthier to be carrying the extra weight as muscle instead. I do. It doesn't take much. Some push-ups every day, chin-ups and a little weight lifting. It's not going for the gold or anything, but even a little work pays off fast.
Yup all you gotta do is get off your ass. Buy a cheap bike and go for a 3 mile ride 4-5 days a week. It takes less than an hour. After about 3 weeks youll see a big difference as long as you dont up your calories from what you take in when you arent exercising. Losing weight is easier than people make it out to be. Low carb, low fat, low sugar, high protein, high fiber will help. But it really all boils down to calories consumed vs. calories burned. Take in less than you burn in a day and you lose weight. Magic.
