This is a job related question so hopefully some people can weigh in on their thoughts who have been in this situation.

So basically I work at a MBM warehouse for $14/hr in the freezer. We work around 50-55 hours maybe a little less than 48 depending on the actual days you work. 5 days a week. Not bad right? The thing is it's work until the work for that day is done. You come in at 2pm and work until it's finished. With how they staff us if one good person calls off it can be a 10 hour night to a 14 hour night. I've worked 16.5 hours before in this place back to back days. Now it hasn't been that bad since I started 3+ months ago. The B.S. is killing me here though. We will finish our work in the freezer than HAVE to help dry finish their work, but if they finish before us they won't help. The hours are good one week then someone is sick or the whole cooler section of the warehouse will call off and we have to help. You have no clue what time you get off. I don't mind 12 hours, but less would be ideal. It was 13 hours last night and today isn't looking good at all. It was 4am (14 hrs) last Friday and we had people help us.

I can't stand this place. I'm a temp and they want to hire me on and everything and I just don't want it anymore. I have an interview Tuesday for a 6am-2:30 job monday through Friday paying a little over 2 bucks less. I have no kids and no house and my Gf works and we each pay half of the bills. Honeslty we don't have that many bills at all and it's direct hire at the new job and benefits after 30 days.

They money is nice, but with where I'm at right now. I don't know if I want to deal with the B.S. at MBM. WHat do you think? Deal with it, or get a new job.

How much less are we talking per check? If getting paid less is not affecting you at all and the job is very stressful for you, then I would consider it. But if working this job now can make you several hundred more every month for the next few years, you can have down payment on house maybe if you are thinking 5 years ahead. Your location says Ohio, houses there are very affordable compared to other places. There are alot of thing to consider.

Also, do you get recevie any benefits? This is very important.

wow 14 n hour,
over here at albertsons dlc in arizona pays 20 n hour selecting in the deli lol
but i say keep your job, it would b alot worse if u didnt get as much hours,i been in the same warehouse selecting 2+ n dont regret it

If the new job is just a job and not a career stay where you're at. You never know what may happen tomorrow and you may need the money.

That's hard to say, jobs are hard to come by, I say stick it out as long as you can, but try to use the "extra $" somewhere you can see it work. You may find out all the extra work is not worth it because you get taxed that much harder. If that's the case, it's time to rethink again.

Just as a note the new job has overtime also. Straight 40 isn't going to cut it unless were talking about 20 an hour or something. I wouldn't be even thinking about the new job if it didn't have at least some OT.

Per paycheck if everything is the same on a 46 hour check for example I would make $115 less with the new job. Obviously I would get taxed more with the MBM check being a little bigger. I'm going to college part time and my GF will too within a year or less so no actual house is in the plans yet. There isn't any benefits until you get hired on. The new job is benefits after 30 days.
