Got 7 each cl about 7" on sat and they are cover with ich. I was like no big deal i've deal with ich before....but not with CLs. Anyway, for treatment.. They are in the 55g with the sponge and ceramic from the 270g tank. new water that aged a week ago in the 45g bin. Air pump. HOB filter, water level lower, light off. some hiding places..

1. Day 1= Add Prazipro and Tank temp up to 86 over night and steady.
2. Day 2= Add .1% salt and 1 dose of Prazipro
3. Day 2= Add alittle less than .1% salt 12hrs later
4. Day 3= Nothing.. CL still cover with ich...

So here we are on day 4.. Check on them this morning and they are still cover in ich some worse than other. Their behavior are...not swimming around much from day one. spend most of the time huddle together and look like they are "sleeping?". i see they looked at me and open and close their gill a few time and stop for a min and then open and close a few time and stop. Is that how they breath when resting? Its not a constain fast breathing and not hanging on the surface either.

Can someone tell me how long can i expect the ich to start to go away? I do know it will get worst before it get better? i searched and seem most of the people say a week time and some say 3 days. And what is their normal/resting breathing would be?

I will do a 50% WC+ add .1% salt that i took out.

Ive had ich on my loaches before and it usually goes away withing 4-5 days.

I would NOT add any medication as you have done. Just continue with the temp at 86 and add a 1-3 tablespoons of salt per 10 gallons every 12 hours for 3 sessions.

It all depends how bad they have it, i hope not bad, because ich gets to a point that its uncurable.

* So i still have a few more days to go on this.. How big were they?
*Should i bring the salt level up to .3%?
*I would say 15-20% of their body are cover with ich as of now. it was like 5% when i got them....

they don't come by that offten at this size and in group. that's why i got them and hope that they are big enough to pull through this..

It is not uncommon for me to buy fish with ich lol, its a quick cure and i tell the shop owner that the fish are sick just incase they dont make it i get my money back.

The loaches i got werent near as big 3-4" so i would think yours would take longer to heal.

Bring the salinity up to .3% over the course of 36 hours and just wait for a couple days.

Sometimes when the ick gets too bad theres nothing you can do.

^^^ I do not like this at all :-( will see.... Hopefully they will make it...

What about their mornal and resting breathing like?

The Prazipro is for worm just in case... and from what i read they are safe with salt... but I never done and treatment on CL's.... That's why i don't want to bring the salt up to .3% (yet). hopefully someone could add some more info....

With a group of that size they should be pretty active. Have you seen them when you turn the lights off at night? Try shining a flashlight or something at the tank as at night is when their most active.

Loaches are pretty hardy fish i would bump up the salinity without any problems.

They was active only for the first day but then they are just bunch up in a group in the corner day and nite. Once in awhile one or two will swim out for a bit then back in the group. I'm not feeding them rite now cause from what i read at this size it will take weeks for them to get used to new tank and eating etc.... I did try chopped market shrimp and NLS soaked in garlic, some will nipple but not eat it fully so i took it out 5 mins after no one seen interested..

5. Day 4= 25% WC bring the salt up a little over .2% (around .23%) total.

Tank temp goes to 87 during the day back to 86 during the night.
Water all check ok
Fishes are still have ich but less?? not really sure?
Some are now swimming around the tank.
Light still off and not eat much. they will take a "sample" then back to "group-hug" in the corner like sardine.

Just keep the temp up and keep recording what you see for a couple more days. It should only take a week max to get rid of ich.

Thanks for your support.... Hope they'll make it through this so i could put them in the big tank with more room, sand, hiding places..
