Hi folks, got a few quaestions about feedig my silver aro.
He's eating well, but only live foods.
Small tilapias, guppies, platis and small insects like tenebrio molitor, zophobus morio.
He really loves the insects, but I'm reaaly worried about nutrition facts.
I've already tried pellets, dried bloodworms (swallow and spit)... doesn't work...
he's small, about 6" to 7".

In order to get him on other foods you will have to starve him for awhile by only feeding pellets, freeze dried, etc. He is still on the small side so you may want to wait until a little bigger.

well, I 'll try to starve him some more.
what kind of pellets is best for his size ??? I already tried sticks from Sera (the one with a nice red aro);
I'll try some market shrimp (frozen or just raw ??) and earthworms.

i had the same problem, try pieces of earthworm for a while then move on to pellets slowly (get them a little wet so their soggy, like the earthworm) Keep doing this for a while with no other foods so he gets used to the pellet. Eventualy he will take the pellet dry. Its a slow process but it worked for me. Starving works for some people and i dont disagree with it, but it didnt work for me. This is how I got mine to eat pellets with no fuss, he was 6 inches then. Keep us updated

This is what I use for pellets, the best out there but their pricy- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+7927+7933+4283&pcatid=4283
Regular shrimp pellets work fine if you dont want to spend the money

a picky aro is an expensive aro:D
try beef heart, chicken, kill the fish first, try that....
shrimp
starve it, sometimes it will take 3 to 4 days
my jardinii wont eat anything but shrimp
starved it for 3 days, fed one shrimp, and only fed one shrimp every other day.....(it will eat 7 to 10 shrimps a day usually) then now it eats anything edible

well, now the feeder fishes I've putted (tilapias) are all gone.
from now on I'll try feed him with some of your tecniques. hope it works cause he's a little sttuborn. and I'll keep everyone updated too.
thanks again

how do you prepare the shimp? raw or cooked? and if cooked how do you cook it?

usually raw and if cooked they would have to be saltlessly boiled.
