20 gal trop tank
i'm going for a rio negro/brazilian theme:

6 rummy nose tetra
5 black neon tetra
3 corys

What do you think?

6 rummy adults- 6X2=12"
5 Black Neon- 5X1.5=7.5"
3 cory - 3X2=6"
Totals 25.5" of fish my general rule of thumb on small community fish is 1" of fish (Maturity size) for 1 gal water. This would be close, but probably doable with proper filtration and cleaning.

Seems reasonable with diligent water changes and avoiding overfeeding. And, they are all compatible  Nice work!

Tell us more about your bio -- any plants?

I know this is shifting the focus/question a bit, but I have two questions to follow up on your comment:

1) How often/how much water should I change?
--I'm going with 20% every 2 weeks.

2) How often should I feed them?
--I was feeding them once a day (in the morning) a pinch of food; however I noticed they were getting really aggressive during feeding, so I increased their feeding (same amount) to two-three times a day. Is this considered over feeding?

Right now, it's a low lighted tank: one anubias, a bunch of elodea, a java fern, java moss, and some crypts. Thinking of upgrading my lighting system.

OH, question 3) How much of my tank should be covered with plants for my fish to feel safe to school?

Water changes I would recommend 20-25% weekly with this many fish.
Feed minimum 2 times daily what they will eat within a couple of minutes. 3 times would be better.
Not sure on how much plant population, but these fish should school even with light population if there is nothing aggresive in there.

Dont forget some sort of sinking food for the cories, they need more than just whatever flakes make it to the bottom.

If It was me I would get rid of one rummynose or go with one school of tetras and add another cory, they do better in larger groups, or if you can find one of the smaller cories such as hastatus or hasbrosus you could up the school to 6-8 IMO.

Sounds nice with the live plants.

For water changes, I would recommend 50% weekly with thorough gravel vac. I think feeding once a day is plenty, and fish should be eager to get the food. I know other people will have other opinions, that's just mine- take it or leave it. If the problem is aggression, I think it's better to increase the amount at a single feeding to make sure every fish has a chance to get some of the food. Also, I would fast them (no food all day) at least once a week. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking about the number of plants???
