Am I overstocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OK. Tank is fully cycled now. 0 nitrites and ammonia. Also added in a 3ft OHF (CR and Bacteria House) running a 2400l/hr pump for mechanical filtration.

Originally had smooth gravel (small size) about 1/2cm thick covering the base but I'm thinking of taking them out all. Reason for that is because I've added 2 more 4" plecos and another 4" dat. Plecos are slow as hell to food and the barbs and CLs are not leaving any food behind. With a bare bottom tank, I can overfeed and clean up the mess the following morning (something I can't do currently cos of the gravel).

Any suggestions or feedback on how I can keep the loaches happen with substrate and still make sure the plecos get their share of food?

Thanks in advance

I don't consider that overstocked, but it depends on your water change schedule and how religious you are with it

Sorry, just continued my post and didn't change the title.

My question was more in reference to me clearing off all the gravel and leaving it as a bare bottom tank. I'm looking for a solution where I can ensure that the slower plecos have a chance to get to food before the barbs and CLs clear them up.

I'm sure the loaches won't be too happy but I'll leave lots of hiding places for them just without any substrate.
