am i overstocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you aren't seeing what I'm saying here.

the aro, the rays and the bass will all outgrow the width of that tank. all of those fish can easily hit 2 feet long and over, leaving very little room to turn around in.
noted... yeah, regardless i need a bigger tank in about 3-4years from now once they are getting closer to their max size in captivity... time to save some money on a bigger tank in the future then...

now my question, for the next 2-3 years max, this tank should be fine, yes?.

I'll give you two years max with those fish...but that might be pushing the time line a bit, especially that aro, they grow quickly. They all look good right now though.

ok noted... 3ft width is good nuff?. i can make the tank wider, but not longer. dont have the room for a longer tank tho.

the oscars and pbass sometimes fight each other... is that normal? or just because the mid level is too crowded?.. hmmmm....
It's normal for Oscars to fight. Never had pbass so I can't answer with them.

Id go 4 feet wide, the rays will need every bit of it and the aro will appreciate the extra turning room.

The fact that you already have 80 ppm nitrates imo answers the question. Theoretical considerations of what may happen in 2-4 years pales in comparison to the present.

cant blame the 40ppm nitrate from tap water bro.

That's inconvenient, but has nothing to do with my post.

A smaller bioload, more plants, and more and larger water changes would take care of that issue. Letting the stock quintuple in size in the same conditions increases the problem by another magnitude.
