When someone finds out you have snakes and proceeds to tell you how disgusting and horrible they are?

Today a girl finds out that I have a snake that is going to get over 6 feet (Columbian boa) and proceeds to tell me that I am stupid, that I'm just going to let it go when it gets that big and that there are probably thousands thriving in the woods all over the US, not just FL. She even went as far as to say I should just cut it up and eat it because I'm going to let it go anyway? Who says stuff like this?

Sorry for the rant, just seeing if I'm insane because I was offended that someone would talk about my pet like this and tell me to cut her up and eat her?

i get negative comments, but nothing as obnoxious as what you just had. if i were you, i would just return the verbal abuse. :D

it really is sad that there are people like that, those are the same kind of people that will kill any snake dangerous or not, simply because it is there. my best advice is to simply avoid people like that, they will only cause unnecessary aggravation, and if you can't avoid them inform them, try to show them that snakes aren't as bad as people make them out to be

Never had what happen to you happen to me. Had people tell me im crazy for wanting such a large snake (in my case wanting a alligator) but nothing with people being serious. If it is just people telling me there gross or the hate them or dislike them i dont get mad. They can have there own opinion. I would of told the girl to shove it and i would gladly bring the snake by just for her. I look at it as they are the ones missing the beuty of nature.

The reaction i hate is when people reference biblical stories as claim for snakes being "evil."

Well I take my snakes to pet stores all the time and all of that so I get a lot of negative looks and people telling me I'm crazy or whatever. I just got so mad when she's sitting there telling me it's disgusting and I should eat it? I don't follow the logic. I do a lot of shows at schools and stuff teaching kids about reptiles and other exotics so I do educate a lot of people but this girl just threw me off.

I told her that I do a lot of work educating people about them and that if she would like to come over and meet my snake while she is still small she is more than welcome. I explained to her that these are my pets and in a sense my kids (because I can't have any of my own). I asked her how she would feel if I told her to chop up and eat her cat - she said that's gross because I'm a vegan. I then gave up.

I can ignore the 'ew, gross' and stuff like that but throwing out false info and getting mad when I contradict that is what gets aggravating.

WoW, Leandra I hope that chick gets ecoli next time she eats a salad. People like that are misinformed and prefer to stay that way no matter hoow hard you try to better them.
