Am I the only one mad at animal planet's new show tanked? They did a shark tank for a lawyer and it was only 400 gallons and they put 3 bamboo sharks at least 2 horns and a leopard shark. I think I saw a blacktip in there too. And that's not all, they put in a butterfly fish that as soon as they put it in, set to work nipping at on of the horn sharks tails. It ticked me off. They also did this other tank that had a leopard shark and at least 3 different puffers in it. Am I the only one who thinks they should be put off the air?
 
well, i don't know about off the air.. but i do know they need to get a clue about compatibility and tank cycling. that ray tank they did kinda pissed me off, especially when they freaked out about the rays burying themselves in the sand.

of course, it's all made for tv "reality" drama, so it's probably the producers that are telling them to do the stupid things. and they are doing it for the exposure and money.

the only aquarium show on the air and you say take it off! c'mon man-you really mean that?
they build people quarantine tanks.Ever hear of bacteria you can add to tanks?like millions of others house fish together that dont go together-Damn-what did you sleep with a wookie last nite!
 
The thing about that show is the target crowd. They aren't targeting us, they are going after the 'reality show' crowd. The show is the highest rated right now.
ATM actually are good guys to work with, and they have done some AMAZING things. I've talked with them about doing a mega tank here in Miami for a restaurant I was contacted about. They gave me a great price, and are very customer oriented. I've also delt with some of the displays they've made - quality is top notch.

That being said, the show does present itself wrong when it comes to fish husbandry. They aren't kicking out those tanks nearly as fast as they make it look, and it's very scripted and edited together to show time crunches and drama between people that isn't really there.
 
Exactly what Zoodiver said, you guys think they will get lots of views if they show a empty tank? Or a tank with few fish that can hardly be seen? Or even showing the equipment off like giant skimmers, ro units...etc.

It sucks but the company is well known for making tanks in creative ways.

Once again I'm not trying to say it's a prefect show....however I will continue to watch it every friday...because like spartacus said thier is nothing else on about fish tanks and etc...and youtube hurts my eyes after a couple of hours lol

....is anybody fascinated with "Exotic Reef Imports" facility? Love it when they go pick fish thier...zoodiver have you dealt with the facility?
 
it's a horrible show. they need to show more 'human planet' the one episode about the kid who stole the eagle and trained it to kill foxes for him was crazy!

Please watch your language. The only reason I say take it off is because it seems to me that they are putting fish in improper tanks. People unlike us that know nothing may look up to them as "experts" and follow their dimwitted example. I too have always wanted an aquarium show but not like this. I guess there just aren't enough fish geeks to make a big enough target audience so they have to aim it regular people. I am just thinking of the fish when I say take it off. And if you are half the fish lover you claim to be you will too.

ERI is an AMAZING company to buy from. I used to have a contact there that would call be personally everytime they got an oddball shark in to make sure it was ID'd properly and give me first choice at getting it. They used to be wholesale only, but I know of a few people who started to work with them and have access to their fish/coral.
