am i underfeeding my stingray?

yea i was thinkin about starting a compost cuz im just catching mine out of the yard and when winter gets here thats not possible. where is a good place to get the red wigglers? but with the ghost shrimp i had a fish store here order me some so we'll see how it goes with that. :)

Ghost shrimp range from .15 to .25 each. but its a good part of their feeding that helps with their diet....

Ghost shrimp are for breaking new rays, not used as a regular staple food. Not only do they cost you a fortune after a while, they also have like no nutritional value at all even if you do gutload them before hand. Its alot smarter IMO to spend that time and money weaning your rays on FD krill.

All the info you need to maintain your worms is on that site. My colony is breeding like crazy and I have not spent a cent on earthworms in almost two years. Get as many as you can to start off with because your ray will make a nice dent in your colony when you first begin to cultivate.

I feed my red wigglers fresh fruit and veggies. You could also add nutritious fish food such as Hikari pellets to increase the worms nutritional value (though earthworms are very nutritious in the first place).

Ghost shrimp have little nutritional value unless they are gutloaded with nutritious food prior to feeding. They add variety to a ray's diet but can be expensive. It can be fun to watch your ray stalk and pounce on ghost shrimp. When I visited Mike Miranda's facility (H20 Custom Aquatics), there were hundreds of ghost shrimp hiding on the upper walls (by the surface) of his ponds. Poor things were afraid to venture down where his "monsters" were. I found this quite amusing.

I also recommend blackworms. Many will argue that they carry harmful parasites and such but this is a myth. If you buy healthy blackworms from a reputable source (blkworm@aol.com :) ) then you can add a very nutritious staple food to your rays diet. Blackworms are very nutritious.

Remember, everything in moderation and variety is key. Do not overfeed your ray any one of these foods.
