Amatitlania nanolutea grow out

My shipment of amatitlania nanolutea arrived and not even 20 minutes in their new 75 gallon home, they've started grazing algae build up on the rocks, fake plants and back glass lol.
Also, it seems to be one male and 4 females. 3 have have the black spot on top dorsal. They're just a hair over an inch to inch and a half.

I’m not sure how reliable to sex at 1 inch size based on dark spot. If grown from the same batch, the larger ones are likely male, and smaller ones female in addition to subtle dark spot slowly developing. Breeding nanoluteus are feisty as I posted on my former pair. Just wonder where you got them from as they are rarely sold in lfs.

I was away for 2 week vacation and returned home finding a pair of Cryptoheros nanoluteus fiercely guarding a batch of fry. They showed no fear of fighting off much bigger tankmates, sort like David against Goliath. It's amazing that a tank full of hungry fish that have not been fed for 2 weeks show no attempt to prey on the fry. The nanoluteus fry do not seek to hide in the rock but swim out in the open and the parents just follow the swarm. The tankmates get the message and stay away from fierce parents and swarm. I know eventually the parents will abandon the fry and hope a few fry...

It's a species tank only and hoping for a pair once they get older and the pair will have the 75 gallon to themselves

The wetspottropicalfish.com has had them in stock off and on for the past couple of months. I got several juvies from them. There are also 2 or 3 different sellers on aquabid lately that have had them.

I got the male in my avatar about 2 months ago at an lfs in town id never been to. Then a couple of weeks later I went back and they had a 2" male/ female pair, so I picked them up too.
