Amatitlania siquia "rio bagaces"

I have a question or two lol this pair has spawned 4 or 5 times each time about 75 eggs. Now the problem I am having is getting any past the wiggler stage. I try to keep them with the parents but this appears to not be working very well. I have had them in a 75 by themselves, I still have not added any tetras or dithers yet. Would this be the problem? Other than the male being a jerk between spawns I figure they need some motivation to keep their fry. I have removed the male as he is being a jerk. I put him with a female marble convict and some grow out Texas fry. She wants to spawn but he is just chasing her and the Texas around. Think he will go in a 29 I have by himself until I can figure this out.

Is there a particular setup needed ie high flowing?

This is the male, from Spencer Jack. Looking at photos online it looks different from ones I've seen. His eyes are different I thought he was blind but he can see good. Chasing other fish and his female around.

The female. I have moved the pair into the tank with 3 female convicts and 2 males. She has paired up with the largest male instead of her partner. Thinking he was being too abusive lol the male hasn't paired with any female

I'd like to say I do since these came from a reputable guy Spencer Jack. The female doesn't lay nearly as many eggs as typical convict. I still haven't had success with them. She was able to spawn with a convict male with no issues, I think the male is the problem. He is a complete jerk. Tried with groups of convict females and all he did was chase them. I have placed them back together but now he doesn't show interest in the female and just chases her around. Thinking of just putting him with my Salvini cichlids and not bother with breeding.

Strange. Must be an individual thing. I got mine F1 from Max, female lays about as many eggs as my trade strain convicts if not a little less (which ends up being like 300-400 anyway), male is a good father.

I am thinking it is probably different catch location, they were labeled F1. In my opinion the body shape looks more like a HRP but colour is black instead of blue. Male is definitely gotten more aggressive than standard male convict as he tries his luck with a 5 inch male and at one point taking on a 5 inch FH x Parrot.

I am thinking of just separating them for now, the male to my Salvini tank. Only time he sort of looks like Rio Bagaces is when he is netted and placed in another tank. He constantly shows breeding mode with dark dress. The female will be fine with some synspilum growouts in the meantime.

Small update, I ended up putting them with my aging Santa parrot and silver dollars. She keeps the male in check.

This seemed to help them bond better, in fact 1st spawn in this set-up they were able to kill a 4 inch SD. I didn't expect that at all, I might try the planted tank with surface dweller schooling species. I'd rather not lose anymore SD's. The parrot isn't bothered by them, she has no trouble keeping them in check.

Male is deceased not sure what happened as I was away for a week working out of town. Female is with my snook for now. I will try source from the US next time. Rather disappointed in the looks, I was expecting a fish like previous ones posted.
