asians aros are more common in socal than black aros. i know 6 fishstores that have asian aros . some are in the back and some are for display, but not for sale, well that's what they say.
banned and illegal, yes. but it's socal, no one really gives a **** about the laws. well at least some of the fishstore owners. they got a lot of balls hahahaha.
but people do get busted. i heard the guy use to sell asian aros was busted last year. i've never seen or heard of his whereabouts since then. i'm sure there are a few other guys that are still distributing them.

If I lived in cali. I would own a $hit load of asian aros.
I would storm in there with a plastic badge... "FREEZE california fish and wild life service. We had a complaint you are housing illegal animals and im here to confiscate them.
