Oh they exist, and they come straight from asian fish farms. I'm not sure exactly what those are called, but a similar type to it is the Red dragon/chilli red arowana. That fish in the picture probably would sell over $10,000 (just a guess).

Yes, there are Arowanas that look like that. I don't think theres any PS on that photo either.

Colors can be made enhanced even without a digital touch-up. Iridescent/fluorescent colors and highly reflective colored surfaces (read scales) respond to various lighting conditions as well as to blue and black and other colored lights in a way that can beyond imaginable greatly enhance their brightness and saturation. So this pic, that looks out of this world gorgeous, may be real but to reproduce these colors one may need to set up elaborate lighting fixtures and conditions and perhaps get a tank made of quartz or at least optically perfect glass.

Do you ever wonder why models look so good and flawless on the covers? In part, it is the same trick. Enhances sales too. Still, they are existing models/humans. :)

HAHAHAH
i just had this samew thing on arofanatics.com
its a predominantly asian website.
i enjoy the website but unfortunately, 99% of the UPDATES and photos on there ofr red aros are modified through photoshop or similar. Or they are under a bright red disco frigging light !!!

that aro is photo shopped, the contrast has been modified. Although i have seen spcimens while harvesting on youtube, red red arownas, but sunlight does the trick.

that aro looks like its enhanced.

anwyays, yeah, i got banned in that asian forum because i could not stop arguing!! my bad:D hilarious but.... shows you, some people don tlike to be questions.
the forum was very much governed by vendors and suppliers too...
they are the most guilty of fake redness through what they call 'NAN LIGHT' its a chinese brand that is extremely red, so red that it actually colours the silicon and bubbles red when its lighting up the water!

anyways, i questioned it, got banned:D
check them out though, arofanatics.com

you will see red arowanas so red.... so so so red, clearly enhanced

they do exist, lets make that clear. im not slandering that photo or farms.
all im saying is that, more likely than not, when you see a photo, the fish is modified by either photoshop or a bright red light shining above.

you can generally tell which one is enhanced, but you cant tell the true colours of it.

occasionally, you will see a photo where someone posts a white light pic, and a red light pic, THEN you can see the difference the light makes and how it actually 'paints' the fish red.

i always ask for 'white light pics' largely cos i like to compare the development with my own and i use white light, i dont have these chinese lights.

probably the start of my demise in that forum lol

example pic below, is enhanced with a red light, probably a touch of PS but mainly a very very bright RED light, if you put your skin on the light, your skin will look red too, literally.... i got one of those lights. im replacing it as i dont like the fakeness.

best bet to see real colour, is go on youtube and search 'red arowana harvest'
so you can see it in th esun, unaltered and fish is moving in the sunlight.
any videos you see are most likely under red light, dark background so there is no reference of redness to appear elsewhere.
if you look carefully you will notice that the red light colours things like bubbles and silicone
