Amazing koi

yeah the chagoi doesnt look to be gasping. but then again, yours doesnt either. just seem to be hanging out at the surface.

that fish isnt gasping. it wants food. its also breathing from its mouth which koi can do well actually. they just push extra air out there gills when they go back under. my fish do this as well when im by the side of my pond.

also he has waterfalls but they are not high enough above the surface to create any real aeration when they poor back into the pond. but his bubblers make up for this tremendously.

also if you watch this video he states himself the water quality can be better. his fish also arent hanging at the surface motionless.

the only time i have seen my fish this inactive at the surface and lethargic is when i first medicated them for parasites. put koi RX in, they stressed bad. got real slow, sat at the top. i put carbon in my waterfall and skimmer and they went right back to normal.

my ponds been as warm as 86 degrees on a very hot spell here. i had no issues. no gasping for air, nothing. main thing is make sure the aeration is very good.

My pond in the summer stays at 84c for many many days and the koi and plecos and rosy barbs are all doing fine.
