So does the excellent water quality and the change in the weather trigger spawning?

I will tell some ponts to get them spawn

1. higher temp (86-90)
2. weather
3. water quality

To get a spawning dosen't always need high quality water.
They do spawn in even not good water sometimes.
However, in such condition, fry will not raise or the egg will not hatch.

I think the first spawning of Altum Angel in Japan was happend at typhoon coming day.

Most of Cichla spwanings in past 10 years were happend in such same condition

Most wild Cichla spwan after rainy season.

My friend also has confirmed especially there were many humped males in very high temp water at Brazil.

Those are most important condition I believe.

VEry intresting....Cause some of the members said their occels or mono's would often be triggered into spawning after a cold water change. Kind of hard to mimick a typhoon over here on the West.

Thanks for sharing your pics and knowledge Seichi. We look forward to their progress.

Great points Seiichi.

In the past I tried the following to induce breeding in my tank. To mimic the heavy rains I installed a spray bar atop my water level that was set up on a timer. Through the course of the day the pump would turn on and spray water to mimic falling rain. This would go on through the course of the day for several days. Then by weeks end I would do 75% water change to perhaps indicate higher water level as more rain brings more water which fluctuates the PH range. Bumped my temp as you posted and tried this for months at a time...it was a no go =-( ....was getting desperate to a point where I wanted to throw in a bloody tampon....LOL..HAHAHA....

Lots of great info on this thread !!!! a bonus to beautiful fish!!

I will explain a bit more

the typhoon meant low atmospheric pressure

my pbass have spawned in the water of ph 5.5 - 7.2

In the colder water than avarage temp it will not raise tiny fry well or the eggs will not hatch much.

Higher temp of water is biggest matter for us to give some big influense for spawning in captive
