Amazing Show Time !!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In my past 20 spawns of Mono, I did some test in different water conditon.
At least Mono spawn in ph5.8-7.4 range.

I was thinking Mela (aka Xingu) need a bit higher PH than most SA water because actual Rio Xingu PH is not so low.
However my mela spawned in ph5.8

Intermedia exists in very low PH and very soft water, upper Orinoco region. It's 5.0-6.0.

But my male Intermedia ejaculated in higher PH range than native water.
It was PH6.4 and 6.8

There are lost of spawn of Orinos in such same condition as well

The sudden change of the pH promotes most SA/CA Cichlid breeding. However, in the case of Cichla, they were temporary.

It will take only 6 hours for male Cichla to develope big humped head when big water change.

It is easy to make the male come into rut temporarily. But female is different...

Probably you will get something from my these words

Cheers,
Seiichi

I do share the same resutls with big water changes. I keep my tanks pretty warm but my water change is alway big and so lower temperature. I also think our altitude plays a role. With the high atmophseric pressure and constant changes in Colo weather pattern's. I think this has been very key to my breeding. With all my cichlids.

Great info Seiichi.

Absolutly amazing:headbang2:WHOA:

Thanks for all the info seichi! Its nice having a teacher across the sea:) Hopefully my location will allow me to have success a little easier. Like R1 I am up in the mountains as well....but not in CO. We have an elevation of about 6300ft. So hopefully in the years to come my cichla will pair up and allow me to do the same. Thanks again Seichi for sharing. Congrats on the first wiggler.
