I know someone who lives about 3 miles from me who has a black mamba. There are tons of people that keep killer snakes i think it would be better to keep than a retic or a burmese just cos it has venom doesnt make it worse than a big constrictor that millions of people have.
I love snakes id love one.

lol though I would never keep venemous . I must admit have seen 2 coral snakes by Glades outskirts under logs while fishing and found them very pretty.

I just found a article today about a guy in vancouver who had 3 king cobras and a eastren diamond back and when he died no one knew he had these snakes so when the landlord was throwing ot this stuff he got bit twice by a king and the three in the container got loose

Here in Illinois it is illegal to own any hot reptiles by private individuals. I did a show with a guy that run the Wildlife Discovery Center in IL. After seeing him and his assistant work with the snakes I have to say I have a great admiration for them but I would never own a hot snake. This is what he says about owning a venomous reptile.

  • Maturity: You have to take this very seriously. Most folks wishing to work with venomous reptiles shouldn’t. You must have a professional attitude towards keeping them.
  • Living a clean lifestyle: Getting plenty of sleep at night, having a clear and sound mind, and, not overindulging in alcohol and NEVER (ever) taking drugs, are essential components. The better you keep yourself in shape, the quicker your reflexes.
  • Resources: It costs a lot of money to keep venomous reptiles. Not only do you need special housing, but you also need your own supply of antivenin (which can costs thousands and thousands of dollars).
  • Experience and Knowledge: It took me many years of working with non venomous herps before I started working with venomous species. It’s important to master the use of snake hooks, tongs, and other handling techniques before working with venomous.
  • MENTOR: Having a mentor to work under is crucial for long term success.

I find this truly amazing that some civilian can buy a spitting cobra let alone any other hot snake
like I have no problem if the person has a permit and anti venom and all the requirments but seriously a spitting cobra
I saw a show and a guy got some in his eyes and he was screaming all the way to the hospital until he passed out from the pain
so yeah thats my 2 cents on keeping spitting cobras and buying them for only 125$

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: omg i cant stop laughing! i know its terrible and i would hate for it to happen to me, but that story about the guy that got some in his eyes is so funny:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: its almost as funny as the scene in superbad where evan barfs on seth and fogell screams :ROFL:

It aint funny the guy as dum as it may be may just had permanent damage:grinno: This is a herp I frankly dont want to mess with!;)
