I am goin to be building an aquarium that is 6' L, 18" H, & 3' W. I want to keep fish only from the amazon area cause i think they are really cool. My only ideas so far is 1 silver aro, 1 pleco (maybe more i dunno), 1 oscar (maybe), and a small school of silver dollars (like around 6 probably)... sooooo what other fish are from the amazon and could go with those? I dont want nething too aggressive or that will get too big. Or stay so small it will get eaten. Also if it would eat prepared food that would be good. I will feed fish and other food but hopefully just to supplement the diet of the fish. So what do u guys think?

:feedback:

I want one, but they illegal in california!!! Like everythin... it makes me so mad.

I would lose the oscar, I'll have to think about what would go with the aro. There are so many amazonians. I'll get back to you with a couple different wish lists.

Gotta Go with a Peacock Bass there awsome...

Will peacock bass eat pelets? Are they expensive? I dont think ive ever seen one in a pet shop. Why no oscar? I kept one once and so far it was the coolest fish i have ever kept. Also what would be a good substrate?

I think they will eat pellets but you would probably have more success with frozen or live, an oscar would be good also...

My last two C.Ocellaris devoured pellets. They will eat anything, so you shouldn't have a problem there. Nowadays, you can pick up young pbass for about $15. Of course, C.Monocolous and C.Temensis are slightly more. As for substrate, try to stick with a medium sized river gravel. Too small a substrate and you could have pockets of anaerobic bactera, and too large you will have food wasting away in the cracks. Of course, if you get fish that are constantly scouring the gravel, get whatever your heart desires.

I just don't care for oscars, personal preference.
Okay, wish list #1.) 3 Belonesox belizanus (pike topminnow), 1 Potamotrygon motoro (stingray), 3 Triportheus albus (pretty chalcinus) or 3 triportheus angulatus (narrow hatchetfish), 1 Sternopygus macrurus (variable ghost knife), 1 Panaque suttoni (blue eyed panaque), 1 Panaque nigrolineatus (royal panaque), 5 Corydoras metae (bandit cory), and 3 mylossoma aureum (silver dollars). I would want this tank myself.

If you plan on doing all that in one tank, I'd ditch the ray, or cories and plecos.
