Amazonian Monsters for POTM?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the 3rd one looks good i wouldnt add one with you/your friend in the pond though

I can understand not entering the photos of me in with my fish in the contest. It's a fish contest not a half naked white guy contest. I hope thats what you were referring to. Because, take it from me, there is no thrill that compares to being accepted and trusted by these ancient predators. I have spent the better part of seven years gaining the respect of my Amazonian brethren. There is nothing more beautiful than a good specimen photo....except being able to swim with living fossils when ever I want. You really can't understand until you've experienced actual affection from a 3.5' Aro. Ian took these pics, next time we'll try to capture more interaction with them. There were new people in the room and they are nervous around folks they don't recognize. Thanks for the advice. I wish I could take credit for the shots but thats all him. My old lady took these.

Really nice , great looking fish !

Cannt remeber
, but how big is this pond/ tank ?

All of these guys are rescues except the largest aro and the pacu. There are two Acara cats, thier just stuborn and shy so takin thier picture gets tricky. In some of the older videos on Youtube you can see my old TSN. I lost him about three months ago. He took a rat like he always did but something went wrong and he didn't make it. I rescued a beautiful 3 ft RTC about a year ago but he was being kept in a 55 and had no muscle mass and I think the stress of the move was to much for him. Sadly no matter how much I put my name out there as an option for rescueing these monsters, it seems most people just don't care. I work very closely with my lfs taking the calls they can't handle but people just don't seem to care enough about the fate of thier over grown fish. I've dedicated years of my life trying to establish this non profit rescue and it has been the salvation of a handful. I'm attending Thomas More College now in an attempt to get my Animal behavior degree. I've used the pond as an on going behaviorial study of the Silvers. I am hoping that a degree will open the doors I need to really establish a rescue/research program to help save these amazing animals, as well as allowing them to help us all better understand these diamonds of the mighty Amazon. I think we kinda owe it to them.....don't you? Thanks everyone for the great feed back. Ian is coming over again tonight. He really is amazing at capturing the essence of my finned kin. Who knows maybe his pics will help bring thier plight to more people. Thanks again and remember, "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time." and I get to do it swimmin with the Aros.
