I just ordered a bunch of marimo balls. They come today. I'm going to throw them in a chamber in my sump and see what happens. They're supposed to be low light and slow growing. I'm hoping they'll drop the nitrates.

Where did you get them from? My LFS sells them for like $10 / pc.

I got them off ebay, I got 9 of them for $60 shipped. Probably still too much, but if it helps, I don't mind. I just saw some listed today in the marketplace for $5 each. The guy was selling various plants, not sure how much he wanted for shipping.

So whole time your temp was never close to low 70's and was in high 80's while you were producing all those pups? and now you want lower temperature anyway? Why change a good thing does not make much sense to me. I dont even think you will be able to get your tank that low with amount of heat your equipment gives off.

After unplugging my heaters the system has maintained 77 degrees just on the heat produced by the pumps. I am now satisfied with the way things are going, the cost involved and the pups produced. Yes I have changed a good thing but that is ok by me. I am forever curious how different variables influence outcomes.

Thank you Brothers and Sisters for your input and questions. I hope I have stimulated your senses. In about 90 days I will have another litter of pups to report on.

Respectfully,
FireMedic.

Awesome picture. Are there any other plants I can throw in my sump (located under the stand) that are low/no light but don't grow quite as profusely as the pothos?

I'm not a plant person so can't really help much. I think the fast growth of the pothos does help with nutrient uptake. So growing plants probably won't use nutrients as fast.
